Sign in and add users

Lockout behavior

After too many failed attempts to sign in you are locked out of your account. When this happens, you will receive an email informing you that you have been locked out. To unlock your account, talk to your OpenNMS Portal administrator or contact OpenNMS support.

Add users

Appliance Service users can have different access privileges depending on the role you want to assign:

Role

Description

Admin

Overall administrator. Creates users and manages subscriptions.

User

Non-administrative user of the Appliance Service.

Only Admin users can create new users. By default, new users have the User role.

Users with the User role cannot do the following:

  • Add other users.

  • Reboot the appliance (Appliance Utilities screen).

  • Upgrade snaps (Appliance Utilities screen).

  • View container/snap information (Appliance Utilities screen).

  • View subscription details (Subscription screen).

To add a user, follow these steps:

  1. Click Users in the user admin menu in the top-right corner of the UI.

  2. Click Add New.

  3. Add the user’s name and email and click Add New.

The new user will receive an email to activate their account.

To change a user’s role, see change user role.

Deleting a user also deletes that user’s personal information (name, email) from the system.
