Configure network information

Before installing a Minion Virtual Appliance you must specify network settings such as the interface name (ens160), IP address, DNS servers, and routes.

Create a network configuration file

A network configuration file lets you specify network settings such as the interface name (ens160), IP address, DNS servers, and routes. You need this file to install Minion Appliance.

Note that the hostname and network configuration are not applied in real time. We recommend setting this information during installation through the network configuration file or TUI.

  1. Navigate to Appliances.

  2. Click the edit icon for the appliance whose network configuration you want to change.

  3. Click the plus icon to expand the Network Configuration area.

  4. Turn Use DHCP off.

  5. Update information in the appropriate fields.

    1. For the interface name, use ens160.

    2. Use CIDR format for the subnet mask when you specify an IP address.

  6. (optional) In the Routes area, specify one or more routing paths.

Routes are listed in the order they are created. Note that if you click the trash can icon to delete a route, the newest one is deleted (the one at the bottom of the list).

  7. (optional) Type a new name for the appliance in the Name box at the top of the screen.

  8. (optional) Specify a hostname for the appliance.

Hostnames must be properly formed, as per RFC standards (may contain only alphanumeric and '- .' characters).

  9. Click Update.

Download a network configuration file

  1. Navigate to Appliances and locate the appliance for which you created the configuration file.

  2. Click the vertical ellipsis (⋮) to view the drop-down menu and click Download Configuration to download the configuration file (in JSON format).

Note that you should treat the JSON file as secret.
